Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame members, volunteers, friends and family harvested fresh flowers to make these vibrant, colorful, fragrant 30’ plumeria lei to be draped on His Statue to honor Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the unified Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. In 1883 a statue of King Kamehameha was dedicated in Honolulu.
Here is the picture of the Mo’i, King Kamehameha Ekahi at the end of the day all dressed by Hawaiian Benevolent Societies, Hawaiian Civic Clubs and Hawaiian Organizations within the Community. Mahalo to our Honolulu Fireman, Ocean Kaowili and his fellow Fireman for teaching directing and assisting our youth from Papakolea to Dress our Mo’i with dignity and Aloha!
This was after all the Ho’okupu (lei and florals) were presented.
